Transportation Planning is one of the most important elements in implementing a transportation project. Before a transportation project can be built, decision-makers and the public need to be convinced it will benefit the community. DOWL HKM offers the unique blend of technical and communication skills to evaluate project alternatives and to develop and present feasible recommendations that can be supported by the community.
Traffic Engineering works “hand in hand” with Transportation Planning. The traffic engineers at DOWL HKM have analyzed the traffic impacts of proposed developments, including office, residential, commercial, educational, medical, retail and other land uses. Our staff analyzes traffic operations on residential, collector and arterial streets, as well as highways and freeways. We evaluate high-occupancy vehicle systems; examine bus and transit operations; recommend improvements to system operations and capacity; and implement coordinated traffic signal timing plans.
